A Northampton man has been jailed for importing drugs into the UK.
Chukwudi Abumujor, 26, of Scarletwell Street, Northampton, has been jailed for 12 months at Northampton Crown Court.
Abumujor was sentenced last Friday (April 15) to 12 months in prison for importing a class B drug into the UK with intent to evade a prohibition or restriction. He was also required to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
Abumujor was arrested on February 12 this year after police discovered a parcel containing approximately 1.3kg worth of cannabis had been imported into the UK from Nigeria and he was identified as the person planning to collect the drugs.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
Detective Sergeant Andy Blaize said “This conviction was the result of careful and deliberate intelligence work carried out by investigators and the conviction and sentence is a continued reminder that drug supply is taken very seriously by Northamptonshire Police.”
