A promotion that gave away free 1966-style England football shirts proved hugely popular in Northampton.
Carlsberg set up a vending machine outside The Hollow store in Monarch Road yesterday afternoon, inviting fans to swap a work shirt for a new top.
Queues of dozens of people formed from 4pm with a large number of supporters walking away with a free top.
The brewers have been holding the promotional stunt in various places around the UK ahead of England’s first Euro 2016 match on Saturday evening.
Owner of The Hollow Shital Patel said she spotted people queuing 90 minutes before the vending machine was switched on.
She said: “People loved it, the machine was completely empty within an hour.”
