Northampton singers Kieran and Sarah have narrowly missed out on a place in the final of ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent.
Millions of viewers tuned in to see Sarah James and Kieran Sutcliffe, from East Hunsbury, sing in the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent this evening (Thursday).
The couple performed a rousing version of Barcelona but were later knocked out of the competition after not receiving enough votes from the public to put them into the top three.
Following the performance the judges’ comments were a mix of praise and criticism.
Alesha Dixon said: “You sang your hearts out. It was a nice, warm, corny, cheesy, lovely, funny moment.”
Amanda Holden said it was one of the campest moments on the show, adding: “It was a beautifully sung performance. It knocked my socks off at the end.”
Amanda also told the couple that she thought the performance had become too ‘grown up’ and ‘serious’.
Simon Cowell said the couple had done ‘really well’.
He said: “Before I could see you singing on a ferry, now I see you on an ocean liner.”
Simon said he didn’t think Kieran and Sarah are credible artists but the effort they put in was ‘amazing’.
David Walliams said: “I’m so glad you’re on the show. It was brilliantly entertaining.”
Simon urged Kieran to propose to Sarah. The couple had previously said they couldn’t afford an engagement ring.
Sarah and Kieran appeared in the final audition show on Sunday night and charmed the four judges with not only their performance of Love Changes Everything but also their relationship and “chemistry” together.
The couple are one of three acts from Northampton to have appeared on the show this year.
Last night dance group Cartel narrowly missed out on a place in the final after being voted off the show at the final hurdle.
Former winner of Northampton’s Got Talent, Bailey McConnell, aged 13, has also made it through to the semi finals. He will appear on the show on Saturday night.
