Two colleagues from a casino in Northampton are taking on the ultimate challenge of climbing Mount Everest to raise money for the company’s charity.

This month, a duo of intrepid explorers from Aspers Casino will head to the Himalayas to reach Mount Everest and raise money for animal conservation charity, The Aspinall Foundation.

Beginning their self-funded trek on the October 15, slot technician Joe Perkins and cashier Darren Wiles will aim to hit their fundraising target of £5,000 to help support the valuable conservation work the charity carries out around the world.

Aspers Northampton has supported The Aspinall Foundation since its opening in 2008; the charity was established by the late John Aspinall, father of Damian Aspinall who set up Aspers Casinos, with the Northampton casino helping to raise more than £280,000 over the last seven years.

Speaking of the Everest challenge, Joe commented; “I’ve always had an interest in the great outdoors, having climbed mountains across the UK from a young age. I feel we all have a duty to safeguard the natural world and the wildlife that inhabits it, so when the opportunity to take part in the Aspers Everest challenge and support The Aspinall Foundation came about, it was a no-brainer.

“In preparation for reaching the roof of the world, I joined the Aspers team in completing the Three Peaks Challenge last year which helped us exceed £3,000 in donations for The Aspinall Foundation.

“Now with one week to go, we couldn’t be more excited to begin our expedition and urge everyone to show their support by texting ASPN55 £5, or as much as you can afford, to 70070 or by donating online.”
