A professional cage fighter from Northampton is set to appear on BBC1’s The Voice on Saturday night.

Chase Morton is known as the ‘singing martial artist’ as he always sings a song as he approaches the cage to fight.

The 30-year-old, who has been crowned world kickboxing champion and is in the UK Top 30 for cage fighting, will appear in front of celebrity judges will.I.am, Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson.

Mr Morton a former Thomas Becket Catholic School pupil who now lives in London, said he had never auditioned for a TV programme before.

He said: “I have been singing since I was nine years old. I do a lot of gigs in London but I never thought I would audition for something like this.

“I was really nervous on stage but I was also really excited as well.

“It was really good to meet all the judges and see their personalities sand talk about the industry.”

Viewers can find out whether Mr Morton got through to the next round on the programme airing at 7.45pm on BBC1 on Saturday.
