No youth clubs until at least September after Northampton community centre closes down
Both the treasurer and chairman of Thorplands Community Shop, in Farm Field Court, have quit recently, leaving it with too few volunteers to continue.
The remaining three committee members have said they have been left with little choice but to stop all activities - including the charity shop, youth clubs and over-fifties groups - until at least September.

Hide AdDonald Essam, aged 85, one of the remaining members, said: “It’s such a shame because the youth clubs get about 20 people twice a week.
“There’ll be nothing for them to do.
“The centre is so worthwhile but with two key members gone, we’d really struggle. It’s really difficult to find anyone who wants to help.”
Thorplands Community Shop provides weekly youth clubs and half-term activities for young people.
It aims to provide members with chances to take responsibility for their lives and take part in activities that can increase opportunities.
