Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire County Council have both denied there are any plans to turn the speed cameras back on in Northamptonshire.

The Chronicle & Echo has been contacted by a number of people on social media who have heard a rumour the cameras were being switched back on in the county.

All the 40 speed cameras were turned off in 2011 after Northamptonshire County Council withdrew its £1 million a year funding from the county’s Casualty Reduction Partnership.

The majority of the yellow camera shells have remained in place for the past four years.

After being contacted by the Chronicle & Echo a spokesman for the police and a spokesman for the county council both said there was no plans to turn the cameras back on.
