No crowd problems were reported to officials at the County Ground after the Sir Tom concert, Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC) said.
Audience members complained on Twitter that the build-up of people at the outer gates had created a potentially dangerous situation.
Sir Tom played to 12,000 people and photographs on the social media site appeared to show people crammed very close together.
But NCCC chief executive David Smith said no issues were reported with crowd control.
He said: “I’m not aware of any crowd issues.
“We had 12,000 people at the concert and that obviously means there will be queues.
“But this is what happens at rugby and football matches, it doesn’t mean anyone was unsafe, it’s just what happens when there’s a big crowd.”
