The all-through school, which is described as ‘substantially oversubscribed’, will open with reception and Year 7 classes in bespoke temporary buildings this September.

Principal Dan Rosser said: “We are absolutely delighted that we have been given the official green light to open at Wootton Hall Park this September.

“The funding agreement is the official rubber stamp of confidence in our school and allows us to make formal offers to pupils, formalise contracts with the teaching staff and begin the procurement of goods and services ready for opening on September 5.”

The school will have a Crime Science specialism with a focus on its key principles of attainment, public service, community and citizenship.

As applications were made in addition to the local authority process, parents offered a place at both Wootton Park School and another school will now have to choose one or the other.

It is likely that some places will soon become available to those on the school’s waiting list.
