A Northampton Post Office has been given a makeover with longer opening hours and more space after one of the customers became the Postmaster.
Online businessman Paul Gosling was a regular customer at Delapre Post Office. Two years ago the then postmaster Pritesh Lakhani approached Mr Gosling about taking on the branch and he felt he could offer his experience to the role. He became Postmaster last year and asked Mr Lakhani to remain as branch manager.
They planned the major refurbishment between them and this week they opened the new-look Post Office.
Mr Gosling said: “My emphasis was to improve the complete customer experience throughout. We have improved the external appearance of the premises with bright, new shutters to immediately make the store look more professional. A new ramp with hand rail has improved access for customers. Inside the branch is now more welcoming. The refurbishment has allowed us to create a light, bright and airy branch and a de-cluttered store which is a far more enjoyable experience for visiting customers. Customer service improvement has been a key driver and our efforts have paid off as customers have been amazed by the transformation.”
Delapre Post Office has extended its opening hours to Monday – Saturday 8.30am – 6pm. This extra six hours of service a week means earlier opening and later closing to fit in around customers’ needs.
Alan Ridoutt, Post Office area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Delapre. We are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular. The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
Delapre Post Office offers the full range of services that you would expect from a ‘Main’ branch.
