A narrowboat marina on the River Nene is hosting an open day this weekend after it welcomed its first customers.
White Mills Marina on the River Nene at Earls Barton is now officially open and will be hosting an open weekend on Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3 from 10am to 4pm.
Boaters and boating enthusiasts can now walk around the site and see the spots which can accommodate wide beams, narrowboats and cruisers.
Work developing the site began at the beginning of July last year, and the amount of interest in the new marina on the River Nene has been welcomed by resident manager Chris Dixon, who took up his role in September and has since been overseeing its development.
He said: “It’s great to see the first phase of White Mills now complete; we are in a position to provide safe and secure moorings for boats and at the same time offer boaters a wide range of services direct to their moorings.
“The marina is looking fantastic, we have had some really keen interest.”
Services available at White Mills Marina include electricity and water direct to each berth, showers and toilets, laundry, diesel, gas, coal and wood.
Phase 2, which is the development of a facilities building, will begin this summer. Once complete, it will feature a function room and coffee shop, and will be available to the general public.
Mr Dixon said: “We are very proud of what has been created at White Mills and we are now looking forward to welcoming guests and establishing a friendly community here in Earls Barton.”
