A fundraising campaign, including a calendar featuring babies saved by Northampton General Hospital, has hit a milestone.

The Gosset Fundraising Events cause - which benefits the neo-natal ward at NGH - has now hit £28,000, following successful auctions sponsored by Northamptonshire businesses.

It also utilised the appeal of babies cared for by Gosset ward by creating a calendar, printed free by local company Belmont Press.

Theresa Wright, who established the appeal, said: “It’s such a fantastic ward but there are lots of little extras in terms of equipment that this money can buy.”

Mrs Wright, from Bozeat, had six miscarriages before finally giving birth

She endured the loss of a baby in 2006, two babies in 2007, two more in 2008 and one in 2009.

They were overjoyed when son Lewis came along in 2010.

But when another son, Harrison, was born, it was not straightforward and he was born prematurely at only 31 weeks, with the family braced for tragedy again.

But doctors and nurses on NGH’s Gosset ward helped the baby to health over the course of five weeks, and staff comforted Theresa and husband Ashley through his treatment.
