Northampton’s annual Multicultural Festival will take place this weekend, sharing a diverse range of shows, food and crafts from around the world with town centre shoppers.
The free event, run by the Zimwomen Association, will take place in Market Square on Saturday (July 4) between 10am-6pm and will be fundraising for Marie Curie, the mayor’s chosen charity.
Last year’s festival offered all sorts of products and activities, including fresh Indian street food, Chinese handwriting and handmade Carribean gifts.
There were also shows from the town’s Polish, Russian and Irish communities, as well as visitors modelling traditional dress from a number of global cultures.
This year promises a similar affair, with more dance and music performances, exhibitions, an auction and a raffle.
But there is still room for more stallholders and the Zimwomen Association is inviting anyone who would like to hold a stall, or help out during the event as a volunteer, to get in touch.
