Mr Mackintosh added: “It was a pleasure to be invited to my local Nationwide branch in Northampton.

"It is important to my constituents that financial providers maintain a high street presence. Technology doesn’t have to replace people, and it’s refreshing to see how Nationwide is using it to improve their existing services. I enjoyed my visit to and look forward to hearing more about Nationwide’s services in the future.”

Tanya Lucas, Northampton Abington St Nationwide branch manager, said: “We were honoured to welcome David to our branch in Northampton.

"This was a great opportunity for us to showcase the services we’re able to offer and we hope David enjoyed the visit as much as we did.

"Nationwide is investing £500m in its branch network, which will allow us to continually improve the service we provide.”
