People in Northamptonshire are being reminded the A43 is set to be closed to through traffic for three days next month during the British Grand Prix.
Due to the extra traffic created by thousands of motor racing fans flocking to Silverstone, the busy dual-carriageway will be closed from 7am to 9pm
on Friday 8, and Saturday July 9, and between 6am and 9pm on Sunday, July 10.
A one-way system will also be place between Towcester and Welsh Lane (B4525) during the same times
Hundreds of letters and leaflets have been sent out reminding local residents of the travel plan, and circuit officials will be contacting businesses over the next few weeks to make specific arrangements.
Sue Smith, joint chief executive of South Northamptonshire Council said: “We welcome visitors to the UK’s largest sporting event and we are proud to play our part in hosting it every year.
“We also recognise there is a balance to be struck between catering for visitors and existing residents and businesses.
“The traffic management plan put in place by the circuit in conjunction with the police, county council, highways and other partners is well rehearsed, but it never hurts to remind yourself of the diversions and to make your own plans accordingly.”
