The detective leading the search for Emmerson Thompson has revealed the teenager was last seen on Friday afternoon after he told his father he was going to buy some fast food and then stay at a friend’s house.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Behan said the 15-year-old was reported as missing on Saturday after it was found that he had not stayed at his friend’s house.
Mr Behan said a “significant” police operation had been launched to find Emmerson including searching a number of different areas of Northampton,
The detective said officers were also pursuing several lines of inquiry including checking mobile phone records and social networking sites.
He said: “We are working with the family who are, as you can imagine, in a dreadful state, to try to find Emmerson and bring him back safe and well.”
Mr Behan has appealed to anyone who knows Emmerson who may have any information about his whereabouts to contact police.
He said: “We have circulated Emmerson’s picture very widely and we would ask people to keep their eyes and ears peeled for anything that may assist the police in trying to trace Emmerson.”
Anyone with any information about Emmerson is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
