Micky McMahon said: “I want to say a huge thank you to all the people who supported the family. The response on social media has been amazing.

“It is hard to put into words what Jamie was like. He was the perfect big brother.

“I’ve had nine months of sleepless nights and, after today, I might get a couple of hours. It has just been an absolute nightmare.”

Jamie’s friends Dan Dignan and Chris Scullion also paid tribute to the popular 26-year-old, who worked at a snooker hall in Overstone Road.

Mr Dignan said: “He was the life and soul of the party and loved by everyone.

“He was hilarious and always made us laugh. He was witty and always fun to be around. I used to spend all day chatting to him.”

Mr Scullion said: “He was just a brilliant and loyal friend. His death has left a huge hole in the world.

“The verdict does not really change anything as we are still missing a huge part of our lives.

“When I heard he had died it was just numbing. I was just unbelievable, you would never have expected something like this to happen to Jamie.”
