Man’s bag stolen while he was sleeping on park bench in Northamptonshire

A man had his bag stolen while he was asleep on a park bench in Wellingborough.

The theft took place in Castle Fields park in the town at about 12.15pm on Saturday.

The victim, a 66-year-old man, was asleep on one of the park benches when another man picked up his bag and walked off with it towards Castle Road and into the churchyard.

The bag was later recovered by police with a phone charger and three boxes of paracetamol missing.

The offender was white, about 6ft, with short scruffy grey hair and wore a black jacket, skinny blue jeans and white trainers.

He is believed to be Eastern European.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information regarding it.
