The driver of a motorbike involved in a major crash at a busy Northampton junction yesterday is said to be in a stable but serious condition.

Yesterday a motorbike and a car were involved in a collision at the Cock Hotel junction in Kingsthorpe, which required diversions to be put in place for several hours.

This morning the Magpas Air Ambulance service has revealed the driver of the motorbike was in a "serious but stable condition" when he was taken to hospital - however status reports on the pillion passenger of the motorbike and the driver of the car have not been received from emergency services.

A spokeswoman for Magpas said the bike driver, a man in his fiftires, was provided with "advanced pain relief" at the scene and was flown to University Hospitals Coventry.

It is understood the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance gave treatment to the pillion passenger while the East Midlands Ambulance service were also at the scene.

Magpas says the motorbike driver sustained leg and head injuries.

Updates to follow.
