Man hit on the head with metal pole during assault in Daventry

A man was hit on the head with a metal pole in an unprovoked attack as he walked home from a Tesco store in Daventry.

The 31-year-old was attacked in Staverton Road having walked from the supermarket in New Street.

He was approached by a man walking from an underpass from the Grange estate underneath Yeomanry Way.

The attacker hit the man over the head with a small metal pole which then fell from his hand.

He picked up the pole and ran off back towards the Grange estate. Nothing was taken during the assault.

Ambulance staff treated a cut to the victim’s head.

The assault took place on Wednesday, April 16, between 9.55pm and 10.10pm.

The attacker is white, about 5ft 8in and a skinny build.

He wore a white hooded top, blue jeans and had a white bandana across his face.
