A man was taken to hospital after being punched in the face and knocked to the floor outside a Northampton town centre bar.

The assault happened between 1.20am and 1.30am on Saturday, August 30, outside the Balloon Bar, on the corner of Bridge Street and Angel Street.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was punched in the face and knocked to the floor, causing a fractured cheek.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

The offender is described as white, with black hair, and was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and trainers.
