A teenage girl was attacked in Northampton by a man who grabbed her, pushed her over and then ran away.

The incident happened in Weedon Road on Saturday November 14 between 6.30am and 7am.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “The 18-year-old woman was walking towards Sixfields and as she passed Beacon Bingo she noticed a man was following her closely.

“As she approached the side road by the entrance to Matalan the man grabbed her hand and asked her if she had a cigarette.

“Further on he put his arms around her waist. She managed to get free, but he then followed her to the grassy area next to the Volkswagen warehouse where the man pushed her over. He then ran away,” the spokesman said.

Police described the offender as a white man with an Eastern European accent, in his mid to late 20s, about 5ft 9in tall with a slim build, wearing a blue hooded zip-up jacket and dark trousers.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
