Man dies following electric shock at Northamptonshire substation

A man who was electrocuted while working at a major Northamptonshire substation on Friday has died from his injuries, Northamptonshire Police has confirmed.

The Northamptonshire and Warwickshire Air Ambulance was scrambled to Norton Road in Daventry at around 3.30pm on Friday (July 3), after reports a man had been seriously hurt at the main electrical substation there.

However today a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police has today confirmed the worker, from Rugby, has since died of his injuries.

The spokesman said: “We can confirm that a man from Rugby has died following the incident at the substation in Daventry on Friday.

“A joint investigation has been launched by Northamptonshire Police and the health and Safety Executive (HSE).”

Northamptonshire Police is yet to reveal the name of the worker, though a file is being prepared for the coroner.
