A man has died after he crossed a road and was hit by a van in Northamptonshire yesterday (Monday).
The incident happened at about 4.45pm on the A6 between Finedon and Irthlingborough on Monday.
The man was crossing the carriageway when he was hit by a blue Vauxhall Combo van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is about 60-years-old, between 5ft 10in and 6ft, with grey, thinning, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes.
He was wearing a white t-shirt, black Lonsdale tracksuit bottoms and green trainers, and was walking towards Finedon.
Sergeant Tony Payne said: “We know the man had walked from the direction of Irthlingborough towards Finedon as he had been spotted by a jogger who was passing in the area.”
Earlier today police appealed for help to identify the victim.
This afternoon (Tuesday) a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “A man who died following a road traffic collission yesterday has been identified.
“Earlier today, Northamptonshire Police appealed for help indentifying the man who died following the incident on the A6 between Finedon and Irthlingborough on Monday afternoon.
A number of people came forward to help with the identifiaction following this appeal.
“We expect to be in a position to formally name the man in the coming days.”
