A Wellingborough resident has hit out at a lack of action after he caught people urinating in his street.

Mohammed Islam, of Strode Road, captured a man on camera emptying his bladder opposite his house in an area which has also become a haven for littering.

But, despite his concerns, he says nobody is dealing with the situation.

Mr Islam said: “People keep drinking and then urinating in the street and it’s not nice.

“It’s very anti-social and they scare my children.

“I have told the police and the council but nothing has been done about it.

“There is a lot of rubbish and no-one is cleaning it up.”

A police spokesman said that while they had not received any reports of the incident, officers patrol the area and deal with offences.

The spokesman said: “We have not had any specific reports relating to the Strode Road area, although other residents across the area have reported similar issues in the past.

“None of our partners have had similar issues raised with them as due to our data sharing protocols they would have notified us.

“The area concerned does have a Designated Public Protection Order which is enforced by officers when applicable, but open vessels of alcohol can only be seized if the owner is causing anti-social behaviour.

“Officers patrol the area and deal with offences when they are seen.

“With reference to the litter aspect in the photos, this is not a police issue but one dealt with by Wellingborough Norse environmental wardens for the area.

“They have street-cleansing teams to deal with this matter, but if the area of littering is on private property, which appears to be the case in this case, then it would be down to the owners of the property to take responsibility for clearing it.”

Wellingborough Council, which contracts Wellingborough Norse to clean the streets, has been contacted for a comment.
