Man assaulted in Northamptonshire KFC restaurant dies in hospital

A man has died after suffering serious head injuries in an assault at a fast-food restaurant four weeks ago.

The victim, a 38-year-old man from Birmingham, suffered serious head injuries in the assault, which happened shortly after 7pm on Tuesday, November 3, in the KFC restaurant in Oakley Road, Corby.

He was taken to University Hospital Coventry for treatment, where he died on Friday, November 13.

A 44-year-old woman was also injured in the incident.

Following the death, police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and will be on patrol in Oakley Road tonight (Tuesday), four weeks on from the incident.

Officers will be talking to people who may have been in the area on the night of the assault and who may have information to assist the investigation.

Ashley Palmer, 28, from Corby, has been charged with GBH and is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court on Monday (December 7).
