A 36-year-old man has today, Saturday July 18, appeared in court charged with a string of robberies against elderly women in Northampton’s Eastern District

Mark Howard, of Campion Court, Bellinge, was arrested on Thursday and appeared before Northampton Magistrates Court this morning charged with a total of four robberies, all allegedly committed between July 9 and 15, against women aged in their 60s and 70s.

He was also charged with one count of attempted robbery, one of theft and one of handling stolen goods.

Howard was remanded in custody until July 31 when he will appear for a further hearing at Northampton Crown Court.
