Lorry fire closes A5 in Northamptonshire in both directions causing long delays

Watling Street is currently closed in both directions between the Kilsby Road junction and Watford Gap crossroads.

An emergency call was made at around 4.30am this morning during the blaze.

The fire is now out, the lorry is being recovered and the scene will then be cleared.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area for the next couple of hours.

Drivers are stuck in long delays on all surrounding routes including the M1 and A428.
