Woman, 96, robbed in own home by conman

A 96-year-old woman was robbed in her Northamponshire home by a man who pretended he was from the water board.

Police are reminding people to remember not to open their doors to stangers following the distraction burglary this morning.

A man knocked at the door of a property in Warren Road, Yardley Gobion, between 9am and 9.15am and told the elderly lady that he needed to check the water supply in her house.

She let him in and, while she was running the taps, the man took cash and left the house.

He was white, aged between 35 and 40, of medium build and was clean shaven. He was around 5ft 10ins tall and had short fair hair which was brushed back off his face.

He was wearing black trousers and a black padded jacket which had white piping down the arms.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this man or recognise his description.

Witnesses can contact police on 08453 700 700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
