Woman seriously injured after stepping out in front of car

A 62-year-old woman has been seriously injured after she stepped out into the road and was hit by a car in Northampton.

A 68-year-old man was driving a silver Peugeot 206 along Harborough Road, in the direction of Northampton town centre, near to the Fox and Hounds pub, on Sunday at 4.30pm, when the accident took place.

It is not known why the woman stepped out into the road into the path of the Peugeot.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Northampton General Hospital and was then transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who may have any information regarding it.
