Wife pays tribute to cyclist killed in truck tragedy

The wife of a cyclist who died following an accident with a tipper truck has described her husband as "always smiling", and paid tribute to his love of life.

Jason Doyle, a father-of-three of Lindsay Avenue in Abington, was killed on Tuesday when the bike he was riding was in collision with the truck in Talavera Way, Moulton Park.

Speaking at the family home yesterday, his wife Debbie, who had been married to 38-year-old Jason for eight years, said she had not yet come to terms with her loss.

She said: "We've been together since I was 16 and I feel sick to think I'm not going to see him again.

"We were supposed to grow old together. He was going to push me around Abington Park when I'm old and in my wheelchair.

"It's just such a shock. I will remember Jason as always smiling. He would speak to absolutely anyone."

Mr Doyle was a mechanic who loved music, computers and fixing up old cars with his 15-year-old son, also named Jason.

Jason said: "I will remember him as he was, he was nuts. It has been really difficult."

Mr Doyle married Debbie, aged 33, eight years ago and the family settled in Lindsay Avenue. He is survived by Debbie and Jason and two daughters, 14-year-old Shannon and 13-year-old Hannah.

Mrs Doyle said: "It hasn't really sunk in how much things will change without him here. We will never be the same again."

Family friend and former neighbour Debbie Barden, who met the couple several years ago when they lived in Blackthorn, said: "He would always be the first one to stop and help someone.

"He really was one of the best."

Details of Mr Doyle's funeral are yet to be arranged, but the family has said music will include songs from The Who, one of his favourite bands.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the force was still appealing for witnesses who may have seen the fatal accident. It took place in Talavera Way shortly before 9.30am on Tuesday.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, can call police on 03000 111222.
