VIDEO: Diggers move in to clear ‘Rat Island’ in Northampton town centre

Work to clear an area known as ‘Rat Island’ in Northampton town centre started this week, as part of the demolition of Greyfriars bus station.
The area is officially called Eastern Island.

Councillor Tim Headland, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “As the project progresses we will see more and more work happening as we demolish the building. This will mean more of the site will be sealed and we are clearing land in places like Eastern Island to create footpaths.”
