VIDEO: Council leader David Mackintosh takes the ice bucket challenge for Northampton-based charity

Waiting for Video...

Leader of Northampton Borough Council David Mackintosh has become the town’s latest high profile figure to take the ice bucket challenge.

The Conservative councillor for Rectory Farm tweeted a video of himself taking the plunge for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) – dressed in a suit and blue tie – this morning.

He was nominated to take the challenge by Chris Wade of the Northampton-based charity last week while he was on annual leave.

The ice bucket challenge, which asks people to throw a bucket of freezing cold water over themselves and film it, has so far raised more than £2m for the MNDA in Lower Mounts, with celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Lady Gaga taking part.

Closer to home, Northampton Saints and Northamptonshire County Cricket players have also filmed icy challenges to raise funds.
