Up to 200 new jobs could be created in £4m centre

Up to 200 jobs could be created with the construction of a new £4 million office building in Northampton.

Heron House, which is planned for Swan Valley, is being made possible by a 575,000 investment from West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC), Northamptonshire County Council and Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited (NEL) and a start date is due later this year.

Developers say the 22,200 sq ft building will be significantly larger than many of the town's existing offices. Roger Mendonca, WNDC's acting chief executive, said: "Heron House will be a high quality development, helping to persuade companies that Northampton is the right home for business. It is part of our long-term plan to deliver new homes, supported by new jobs and better facilities for both the future and existing residents of the area."

David Wright, chief executive at NEL, said: "Supporting projects like this plays an important part of our activities to develop the county as the ideal location to live, learn, visit and invest."
