Two holes-in-one for schoolboy
A teenage golf prodigy from Northamptonshire has beaten odds of almost a million to one by hitting two holes-in-one just a week apart.
Harrison Woan first got an ace with a well-struck six iron during the Junior Scratch Championship at the Northamptonshire County Golf Club in Church Brampton, at the 166-yard 3rd hole on Monday, July 28.
Seven days later, the 13-year-old, who plays off a handicap of six, hit another hole-in-one using, a four iron, at the 149-yard 13th hole during the Overstone Park Junior Club Championships.
Harrison, who lives in the village of Mawsley, said: "I thought the first one was a good strike and I saw it bounce twice and then go in.
"The second one, I saw pitch behind the hole and the spin back, but I didn't think it had gone in. It was only when I got to the green that I realised."
The teenager, who has been playing golf since he was six years old, said his dream was to become a professional golfer, like his idols, Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods.
Harrison's father, Alan, who has been playing golf for more than 20 years, said: "I'm very jealous of him.
"I've never hit a hole-in-one and I've been playing for years. Harrison is incredibly talented and works very hard at his golf, so he deserves to have done well.
"And the best thing about it was that he was playing in proper competitions. This wasn't just social golf."
Mike Spence, junior organiser at Overstone Park Golf Club, said: "He is the best under-14 golfer in the county. He is a pretty special talent and he has got a lot of potential, especially when he grows a bit more as he is still quite small."
As he was too young to buy everyone a round of drinks, Harrison got 75 from the club for each hole-in-one.
