Town nurseries are both 'outstanding'
The owner of two day nurseries in Northampton is celebrating a double success after Ofsted inspectors rated them both "outstanding" in every judging category.
Angela Evans, who runs branches of Alphabet Day Nurseries in Kingsthorpe and Camp Hill, said she was "absolutely thrilled" that inspectors gave both her premises such high praise.
Following an inspection on July 22, the nursery in Kingsthorpe was praised by inspectors for creating a "rich, varied and imaginative programme of activities" which ensured that children made "excellent progress" in their play and learning.
The nursery in Camp Hill, which was inspected on the same day, was described as a place that provided "exceptional levels of care" and "motivating learning experiences" for its pupils.
Ms Evans said the success of both nurseries was due to the collective hard work of all the staff who helped to look after the children.
She said: "I've owned and actively operated Alphabet Day Nurseries since 1994 when the Kingsthorpe Nursery first opened, then in 2004 we opened the Camp Hill Nursery.
"My passionate view was, and remains to this day, that good quality childcare involves putting the children first. Everything I do revolves around their care, welfare, safety and enjoyment.
"Running the nurseries takes vision, commitment and an inspirational team, with strong values and high expectations, who work consistently well together for the benefit of the children.
"We are absolutely thrilled that Ofsted has rated both our nurseries as outstanding. It is a wonderful achievement".
There are 17 categories that Ofsted inspectors use to judge nurseries and each one is then rated as either outstanding, good, satisfactory, or inadequate.
After the last inspection of the two nurseries in 2007, both were rated "good" and the Kingsthorpe nursery was described as a "very safe and well cared for nursery" that the staff and management ensure is fit for purpose and provides a "comfortable, welcoming and child friendly" environment for its pupils.
