A team of runners is
preparing to take part in this weekend’s Silverstone half marathon in memory of one of the group’s son and a former fund-raiser.
Sarah York’s seven-week-old son, Tyler, died in 2011 of sudden infant death syndrome.
The following year Miss York, her fiancée Tim England and other friends raised more than £5,000 for Northampton charity, Children Are Butterflies.
Sadly, in March last year one of the runners, Sarah Roe, died in a car crash.
On Sunday, Team Tyler will be running in memory of both of them.
Miss York, aged 30, of Midfield Court, Thorplands, Northampton, said: “We’ve got a team of 31 runners all taking part on Sunday, all running in memory of Tyler and Sarah.
“Losing Tyler was really hard for me and Tim to cope with and we are still grieving now. At first we wanted to do something to help us through and we started training and running.”
After raising £5,000 in 2012, the team went on to raise more than £2,000 in 2013.
This year they are hoping to raise more than £4,000 and take their overall total to more than £12,000.
As in previous years, the team will be running wearing the same shirts.
Joining Team Tyler will be friends and families of both Tyler and Sarah.
Miss York said: “Losing Sarah was terrible. We’ve got her mum and her aunt both taking part at the weekend.
“Some of the team will be looking to do the half-marathan in under two hours, some will be just aiming to cross the line.
“The support which the charity provides is fantastic.”
