Talented stars all set for the stage
A limited number of last-minute places are still available in this year's Northampton's Got Talent contest which organisers are predicting will be even "bigger and better" than last year.
More than 60 contestants have already been lined up to appear at the Grosvenor Centre for live auditions, running from Monday until Friday, August 13.
The judges during the audition stage will be Market Square events co-ordinator Becky Allen, Grosvenor Centre marketing manager, Mandie Smith and Chron reporter Callum Jones.
One act will be put through each day and will be featured in the Chron so that readers will then be able to choose their favourite, who will go through to the final at the Market Square on Saturday, August 28. The other three finalists will be chosen by the judges.
Mrs Smith said: "It's going to be bigger this year as we will have six or seven people performing each day. Last year, we had 40 applications but people seem to be taking it much more seriously this year. We have not just got dancers and singers this year but we have guitarists, drummers and piano players. We also have a 75-year-old woman who whistles and a six-year-old boy doing magic tricks.
"Last year we were putting through two or three acts a day and that was very difficult so I'm not looking forward to only being able to put through one."
All the successful acts in the auditions will be put through to a semi-final which will take place on Saturday, August 21. The winner of the competition will receive 500 in vouchers to be spent in the Grosvenor Centre.
