A Post Office in Semilong, Northampton is to remain open after residents expressed fears about its possible closure.
The managers of the branch in Semilong Road announced earlier this year that it would close on September 25.
But a poster has now been placed in the shop’s window saying the closure will no longer take place and the branch will remain open.
The move has been welcomed by the leader of Northampton Borough Council, Councillor David Mackintosh (Con, Rectory Farm).
He said: “This is great news for residents in Semilong. In many communities the local Post Office is a much valued local hub that provides vital services to many residents.
“People are generally very fond of their local Post Office, and they are much more than just a place to buy a stamp or post a letter.
“I hope we can keep as many of these facilities in our communities as possible.”
