Schools online safety scheme

SCHOOLS in Northamptonshire will be supporting an initiative to help keep children safe online.

Next week schools will mark Safer Internet Day by delivering assemblies, hosting workshops for parents and organising online safety lessons.

The event, on February 7, is designed to highlight issues such as cyberbullying and the safe use of social networking.

Caroline Moore, Northamptonshire’s e-safety officer, said the internet was a “fantastic tool” but it presented some challenges in keeping children safe online.

She said: “As the theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Connecting Generations,’ there’s a particular focus on keeping parents up to date with technology and aware of any online safety issues.”
