Residents urged to join march against housing plans

A march against controversial expansion plans has been organised by residents in Quinton who are angry about the impact the proposals could have on their village.

It will take place on Tuesday, September 29, and campaign group the Northants Residents' Alliance has called for as many people as possible to turn out to support their cause.

The protestors have vowed to carry out several stunts at the offices of the JPU in Cliftonville to show the strength of feeling against the plans.

A spokesman for the group said: "Quinton villagers are asking as many people as possible from all over the county to join them in their public protest against the irresponsible expansion proposals put forward by the West Northampton JPU.

"Protestors are invited to meet at Beckets Park car park at 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 29.

"The significance of the march is to draw attention to the last day of the JPU's consultation period, which ends on the following day.

"To emphasise the rural nature of Northamptonshire, tractors will join the march which will make its way very slowly to the JPU offices at Cliftonville. Some protestors will dump piles of paper on the office steps to symbolise the strength of feeling against their outrageous strategy document."
