Residents’ legal action over chicken factory smell

Dozens of residents in south Northamptonshire are taking legal action to fight against odours coming from a nearby chicken processing site.

About 40 people in Brackley have received advice from specialist environmental solicitors, Hugh James, about problems they claim they haveexperienced for years from the Faccenda chicken processing site in Willow Road.

Gwen Evans of Hugh James said: “The evidence we have seen suggests that residents have been exposed to an unacceptable level of odour from the site. People in these circumstances are entitled to compensation for what they have suffered in the past, and an injunction to prevent the continuation of this nuisance in future.”

Residents living near to the site, which has been the headquarters of Faccenda Group Limited since 1996, have reported serious odour problems since 2007.

Some said that they were often unable to open their doors and windows because of the smell and others have even claimed to have suffered illnesses as a result of it.

Hugh James will host a special open day for residents who say they have been affected by the site.

Those who attend will be able to find out how they can take action.

The meeting will take place at Brackley Town Football Club on January 16 from 2pm and 8pm.
