Rape suspect claims victim performed sex act on him in street
A man accused of raping a teenage girl in Northampton has claimed his alleged victim attempted to perform a sexual act on him in the middle of the street.
Ismail Ahmed, aged 27, of Elizabeth Walk, off Abington Square, Northampton, is accused of dragging a teenage girl behind a pub in Wellingborough Road and then raping her.
Mr Ahmed denies all the charges. Giving evidence yesterday, Ahmed told a jury at Northampton Crown Court he had gone out for a drink with his wife on August 1, last year, before returning to home.
He then went out for another drink later in the evening. Ahmed told the court as he was walking home he saw the girl walking unsteadily along Wellingborough Road and started to talk to her because she seemed a "good" person.
Speaking through a Swahili translator, he claimed she then kissed him and hugged him, before she then began performing a sexual act on him.
He said: "She was not walking straight but leaning to either side.
"I only let her do it for a split second. I stepped back and told her 'You cannot do this here'."
Ahmed said he then took the girl's phone number and returned home where he was later arrested by police.
The trial continues.
