Rainforest comes to school
A piece of rainforest was recreated at a Northampton school as part of an environmental project by pupils.
Year 3 pupils at Kingsley Primary School, in Wallace Road, have been taking on roles of scientists and researchers to raise awareness about the natural environment.
The project involved a trip to the University of Leicester Botanic Garden and a reptile expert bringing species found in the rainforest to the school.
Headteacher Chris Newton said: "The project was set up through the Creative Partnerships scheme, a Government learning programme, to improve their questioning skills and boost their self-esteem.
"To get them into the role of researchers the children were given briefcases containing notebooks and goggles. We also turned a corner of the classroom into a rainforest using fabric and coloured tissue paper and making video diaries."
