Prince Charles to visit Northampton
The Prince of Wales will visit Northampton on Thursday, to check on the progress of a new housing development he helped design.
Prince Charles will visit the Upton housing scheme, close to Sixfields, before calling into Mereway Community College.
During his visit to the school, he will meet students who have taken part in courses sponsored by the Prince's Trust.
Mereway headteacher Mark Griffin said: "I'm delighted he will be visiting us and acknowledging the hard work and achievements our students have made."
The day-long visit to Northampton is designed to give the Prince the chance to show off the town's assets to a number of Government officials.
The tour will begin in the morning at Upton, where Prince Charles will see the latest developments in the eco-friendly housing scheme he helped to design.
The Prince last visited the new village in January last year, when it was revealed he had a personal input in the design and layout of houses in the project.
During the visit, he met a number of people who had moved into the new houses and asked them how they were getting on in their new homes.
This time, he will visit the new Upton Meadows Primary School, which has opened in the village since his last visit.
He will also take a tour of the village, which will contain 1,020 of the most environmentally-friendly houses in the country when it is completed.
More than 200 people turned out to see the Prince when he last visited the town centre.
