A special operation carried out by Northamptonshire Police tonight will see motorists with defective lights pulled over by officers across the county.
A number of checkpoints will be set up by officers across the county between 7pm and the early hours of the morning.
Officers will pull over motorists with defective lights and give them advice about their driving as well as notices to get their lights fixed and checked at an MOT testing station within 14 days.
Road policing sergeant, Tony Payne, will lead the operation with a number of the county’s special constables.
He said: “We’ve launched this operation because we want to educate motorists about the dangers of driving without all of their lights working correctly.
“It’s also in response to concerns that have been expressed to us by members of the public about people driving with defective lights.”
This is the first of a number of countywide operations which will be carried out utilising the special constabulary alongside roads policing officers.
