Vandals have set fire to a large pile of household rubbish dumped in a street in Northampton.

The rubbish, mainly including empty cans of lager, was set on fire on Sunday night at the junction of Colwyn Road and Hood Street.

Fed-up resident Colin Sears said: “Sick of fly-tipping in my neighbourhood. Now it’s being set alight.

“Fly-tipping in the Mounts is an ongoing issue.”

Mr Sears alerted Northampton Borough Council to the pile of rubbish. Workers went sent out to clear up the site at around 3pm yesterday (Monday).
