'Our little miracles'
Isabel, Emily and Ben Collier look the picture of health now - but their delighted parents are celebrating three birthdays they thought may never come.
Mum and dad Andrew and Anna lived in Northampton two years ago when Anna went into labour with the triplets 13 weeks early.
There were not enough facilities for three premature babies at Northampton General Hospital and doctors sent the family to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
At birth they had a combined weight of only 7lb 1oz but, after 101 days in intensive care, doctors allowed the triplets back home and they recently celebrated their second birthday.
Mr Collier, who now lives in London, said: "It was brutal. It was a really bad time. We are so grateful to the doctors."
About a quarter of the babies treated at the Chelsea and Westminster's neo-natal intensive care unit are from outside the capital and NGH will often send premature babies there.
The Colliers have now set up a charity – whose website is www.3littlemiracles.com – to raise 250,000 for more lifesaving equipment.
Helped by ex-Saints players Tim Rodber and Harvey Thorneycroft, their first fund-raiser will be the 3 Little Miracles Midsummer ball on June 21.
