A Northamptonshire dog charity has invited all dogs in the county to take part in its annual summer show.

Northants Greyhound Rescue (NGR) will be holding the event at Courteenhall Estate in Northamptonshire on Sunday June 1 as a reunion for all its rescued greyhounds and lurchers that have found permanent homes.

However, all breeds are welcome as the show will also hold 20 ‘companion’ classes for other dogs, including six pedigree classes and 14 ‘fun’ classes, with trophies and rosettes up for grabs for winners.

Registration will be open from 10am and judging will begin at 11am and the event will also include stalls, refreshments, a raffle and visitors may bring picnics.

NGR kennel manager, Mandy Hooker, said: “This is always a lovely show and is set in beautiful parkland on the Courteenhall Estate. There is plenty of shady parking and acres of fields for dogs to take their owners for a walk.

“Northants Greyhound Rescue relieves the suffering of greyhounds in distress by placing them in loving homes, to the benefit of the dogs and their new families.

“At any given time, there are around 40 dogs in our care, and this show is a chance to help them and to have a fun day out at the same time.”

There will also be plenty of NGR staff available to talk to about advice on picking a pet from a rescue centre. For more information about giving a greyhound a home, or about the show itself, visit: www.northantsgreyhoundrescue.co.uk
