Northamptonshire food and drink firms are helping to show the county is “a force to be reckoned with” today, organisers of town centre culinary festival have said.
The courtyard and Great Hall of the Guildhall are the bases for the Love Northampton Food and Drink Festival, with local food and drink companies displaying their tempting county-sourced wares from 11am to 4pm today and other county shops running special offers.
Organiser Rachel Mallows said: “There are lots of reasons why people prefer to buy locally; they know it’s not travelled many miles to get to the shelf and something that’s recently come out of the ground tastes better than something packaged up.
“Apartfrom that, when you buy local produce it’s show of support for county businesses.
“All the food and drink companies taking part in our festival are showing Northamptonshire is force to be reckoned with.”
The free festival, funded by the Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) and supported by Northampton Borough Council, aims to promote the best of Northamptonshire local produce.
The Guildhall courtyard will also be hosting cooking demonstrations, free tastings and stalls selling local produce, including creations by finalists of this year’s Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.
